Who doesn’t love the warm sun on your skin, wind in your face, hair blowing in the salt air, and a spectacular ocean view to compliment lunch and/or dinner? The U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) Department of Tourism decided to highlight all this nice about the Virgin Islands by launching Restaurant Week on the island of St. Croix. The 10-day event, which runs from October 28 until November 8, 2015 is a journey into all things flavorful and all things VI.
The event appropriately dubbed “Dine VI” is a culinary exhibit of the VI. Featured events will shine light on the diverse, vibrant cuisine, culture, and community of the islands by including local restaurants, farmers, chefs, and food aficionados. Dine VI began with Food Learn – a collaboration with the Virgin Islands Good Food Coalition to expose and educate the community on locally sourced and grown produce. The event will conclude with the Reef Responsible Fish Fry – an event organized with the Reef Responsible Sustainable Seafood Initiative, which seeks to create a sustainable seafood industry within the USVI.
The Dept. of Tourism will expand to include all three islands of the USVI – St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas in Fall 2016. In the meantime, check out some of the yummy dishes served so far!
